These marbled Zurg cakesicles inspired by Lightyear are out of this world! They are filled with creamy filling and decorated in galactic style. These treats were served on our Lightyear party.
Zurg Cakesicles
Ingredients:
- Purple Candy Melts
- Blue Candy Melts
- Red Candy Melts
- Cupcakes {any flavor} – ½ cupcake per cakesicle
- Frosting {any flavor} – 1 tablespoon per cakesicle
- Candy Stars
- Black Round Sprinkles
Materials:
- Cakesicle Mold
- Popsicles Sticks
Instructions:
Make cakesicle shell – Melt candy melts as directed on the package. In a small bowl, add 1 teaspoon of each color and gently swirl with a toothpick. Spoon marbled candy melts into the reservoire of a cakesicle mold and gently spread up the sides of the mold. Repeat the process with remaining candy melts. Set aside and allow to harden completely.
Make cakesicle filling – In a medium bowl, crumble cupcakes. Add frosting and mix thoroughly. The mixture should be moist and should easily clump together. Once cakesicle shells have hardened. Add the filling to each cakesicle. Press down completely and smooth the top leaving a ¼” space to add more candy melt.
Finish cakesickles – Gently insert a popsicle stick into each cakesicle. If you have leftover candy melts, re-melt them. Otherwise, melt a few more candy melts. Repeat marbling process described in the first step. Spoon over top of cakesickle filling. Gently tap mold to release air bubbles. Set aside and allow to harden.
Decorate – Once cakesicles are completely hardened, gently pop out of molds. If desired melt ¼ cup of a candy melts according to package directions {your choice of color}. Place melted candy melts in a sandwich bag. Snip a tiny hole on the corner and drizzle over the top of the cakesicles. Immediately add candy stars and sprinkles over the unhardened candy melts.
