We hosted our Winnie the Pooh picnic under our big Maple tree. The decor was simple and focused on natural elements like rustic wooden serving pieces, rattan, vintage linens, and a color scheme of cream, buttery yellow and light blue.
We created an adorable “Bee Tree” from an 8-inch styrofoam cone, beige tissue paper, toothpicks and donut holes. Little candy bees on florist wire were attached and buzzed around the tree. This fun centerpiece was not only cute but very sweet and fun to eat.
To create this look we used low square folding table and nestled it under a big tree in our yard. The table was topped with a buttery yellow tablecloth and surrounded by white pillows for seating. We added a vintage topper in white, yellow and light blue.
Place settings of white and light blue plates sat atop rattan chargers. We purchased our chargers at Target but they are no longer available. Similar ones are available on Amazon. We paired each place setting with a light blue tied napkin, a farmhouse style pint mug and bamboo cutlery.
We tucked faux daisies and yellow poppies, billy balls, and ranunculus along with a few apricot poppies in a honey colored square basket. We created a Hundred Acre Wood sign using paint sticks and a dowel that was tucked into the floral arrangement. We also included a map of the Hundred Acre Wood along with a second “Bee Tree” donut tower and a few fresh peaches and some honey. Those little details will help transport your guests to the Hundred Acre Wood.
This menu will appeal to children and all that are young at heart. We chose simple, tasty, and whimsical dishes that reflected Pooh and his friends. You can get all the recipes below.
Honey lemonade is a wonderfully refreshing drink that’s perfect for any occasion. With its natural sweetness and bright, tangy flavor, it’s a crowd-pleaser that’s sure to become a favorite in your household. Get the recipe from Food Network here.
We served English tea sandwiches with a Winnie the Pooh twist: peanut butter & honey on sunflower honey bread shaped like a bear, egg salad and pea shoot served on white in a sunflower shape, and cucumber & herbed cream cheese on light rye in a shirt shape. You can get our favorite tea sandwich recipes along with shopping links for the cookie cutters we used here.
We picked some delicious fresh veggies from Rabbit’s garden patch and served them in little “Hunny” pots. Add a little ranch dressing to the bottoms of the pots for fun dipping! You can get our simple tutorial for making the “Hunny” pots filled with fresh veggies here.
We love Martha Stewart’s apricot sage scones and thought they were perfect for a picnic in the Hundred Acre Wood. The scones are delicious served with juicy peaches or apricots, creamy yogurt, and sweet honey. Get Martha’s recipe here.
