6. I like to remove the cardboard base from my gingerbread house. If it’s hard to remove, you can also trim off the edges. Place your pre-built gingerbread house on a cake plate or platter.
7. Using white icing in a piping bag with a medium round tip, add shingles to the roof and outline the windows and panes. I chose to add decorative accents to the front of the house. Small dots are an easy detail to add. Alternately you can add scroll work (shown below).
Note: Add decorative details to all sides of the house even though only the front is shown in this tutorial.
8. Using a piping bag of pink icing fitted with a medium round tip, outline a door with a slightly rounded top. Fill in with icing and smooth with an icing knife.
9. Using a piping bag of green icing fitted with a small star tip, add greenery trim to your house under the windows and around the door. Add a Mickey shaped wreath at the top of the house at the peak of the roof.
10. Using a piping bag of pink icing fitted with a medium round tip, add small beads of pink to the greenery.
11. Embellish the door by adding three pink ball candies in the shape of a Mickey.
12. Using a piping bag of white icing fitted with a medium star tip, edge the peak of the roof, roof edges, and corners of the house where the sides meet the front and back. If your house is on a serving plate where it will be displayed, also edge along the base of the house.
13. Using a piping bag of pink icing fitted with a medium round tip, add Mickey’s over the shingles on the roof.
14. To create trees, use a piping bag of green icing fitted with a small star tip to add small stars over the entire surface of an ice cream cone. Depending on the size of the cones, you may need to trim off an inch or two so the trees aren’t too tall.

15. If the cottage isn’t on the cake plate or platter where it will be displayed, transfer it carefully at this time. If you haven’t already done so, edge along the bottom of the house with white icing fitted with a medium star tip.
16. Sprinkle coconut around the base of the house. Arrange trees in the front. Add a marshmallow path and Mickey & Minnie figures. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
