Madame Leota Charcuterie Board
Ingredients
- Variety of Cheeses: We served three cheese on this board including sage derby cut into a glass ball shape, sliced blueberry chevre, and brie cut into a coffin shape. To create Madame Leota’s image we used a stencil and edible black powder. The stencil file is available as a free download with the purchase of our Halloween cookbook.
- Meat Roses: Create salami or pepperoni roses by folding them over the rim of a champagne flute or milk bottle. Stagger them as you go and add multiple layers for a full look.
- Crackers: We chose to serve whole grain crackers and rye melba rounds for their dark color.
- Fruits: We chose fruits in dark red, blue and purple shades including plums, black and grapes, and berries.
- Spreads: We used raspberry preserves to look like blood on the brie coffin.
Instructions:
1.Cut the green cheese into a 4” round. Position your stencil over the cheese. Holding the stencil firmly, gently press the black edible dusting powder into the open areas of the stencil using your finger.
When evenly coated, remove the stencil. Transfer the cheese to the center of your serving platter.
2. Slice the blueberry goat cheese into ½” thick slices. You may find it helpful to wipe your knife between slices. Arrange slices of goat cheese to the right of the crystal ball.
3. Use a ruler to trace a coffin shape onto the brie. After etching the desired shape, carefully cut out. Place a dollop of raspberry preserves in the center of the coffin and drive a cheese knife through it. Place the coffin cheese to the left of the crystal ball.
4. Arrange meat roses near the blueberry goat cheese. Add clusters of grapes, sliced plums, berries, and crackers around the cheeses.
