Entertain with Magic

The Little Mermaid is one of our favorite Disney movies! We’ll show you how to host an enchanting under the sea Little Mermaid Disney Dinner with our full menu, recipes, and decor ideas.
We had fun creating a magical under the sea ambiance with sea shells, natural fibers, and candles. We dressed the table using our favorite linen hemstitched table cloth with a burlap runner.
We kept the look light for our place settings with simple white plates, sea glass blue goblets, and linen napkins. Our favorite element of the place settings was the Oceanic Coral cutlery. It adds a lot of character and is so much fun to use!
For our centerpiece we collected our favorite natural elements from the sea shore like shells, sea stars, driftwood and blue glass.
We carried the same decor elements onto our serving buffet with apothecary jars filled with shells and driftwood, along with a coral sculpture.
Our menu was inspired by the beautiful setting of the Little Mermaid. You will find light and vibrant flavors with hints of sea life: star fish, sea horses, sand dollars, and more. Get all the recipes below.
These tropical drinks will transport you to an under the sea paradise! Not only are they delicious, but their color is truly gorgeous! They are made with pineapple juice, a spash of lime, and non-alcoholic blue curacao. They can be garnished with pineapple fronds and stars cut out of 1/2″ thick pineapple slices, or with star fruit if it’s in season. To turn them into a cocktail substitute blue curacao and add rum.
Create a beautiful Under the Sea Charcuterie using simple ingredients. This easy recipe makes a quick and appetizer or grazing meal. Get the recipe here.
This pasta dish is light and fresh with deliciously seasoned shrimp with just a little kick. It’s the perfect dish for a summer dinner party! To create this dish, we used Food Network’s recipe and substituted edamame angel hair for regular pasta. I love the beautiful green color of the pasta contrasted with the vibrant tomatoes and greens.
This traditional Danish cucumber salad is fresh, delicious and a perfect accompaniment. It’s light, fresh and a perfect side dish for seafood. Get a recipe from Nordic Food Living.
We create three delicious treats for our Little Mermaid dinner: Almond Cookies, Spiced Apple Cupcakes with Caramel Filling, and white chocolate sea horses & shells.
Almond cookies are a favorite in Denmark. We used my mom’s almond cookies recipe to create these Sand Dollar almond cookies. They are light, crisp and delicious! Get our recipe here.
Apple cake is a popular dessert in Denmark and is comprised of layers of apples and oats served with whipped cream. We used the flavors and ingredients to create a delicious cupcake recipe. This cupcake is flavored with chunks of apple, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon. It is filled with caramel and topped with cream cheese frosting and a white chocolate star fish. These are absolutely delicious and adorable! Get our recipe here.
These delicate and sweet sea horses are a perfect sweet treat at the end of this under the sea meal. To create these we used Wilton’s Sea Life fondant mold. We melted white chocolate chips, filled our molds, and let them set. We served them in a real shell. They’re beautiful as a dessert garnish, over ice cream, or on a buffet of mini desserts.
