Entertain with Magic
Welcome to the jungle! We’re heading deep into the jungle for a party filled with adventure, fun Jungle Cruise details, and a few corny jokes. This party would be perfect for a family movie night to celebrate Disney’s Jungle Cruise movie but would also make a fun birthday party theme. Get all our Jungle Cruise party plans, free resources, and recipes below.
Jungle Cruise is an iconic Disney attraction held in Adventureland of multiple Disney parks. The riverboat attraction travels through jungles of Asia, Africa, and South America. Guests board river boats styled after The African Queen through a 1930’s British explorer’s lodge. Skippers serve as guests’ tour guides as they cruise through the jungle and admire mechanical animals while being entertained by the skippers’ corny jokes. Read more about The Jungle Cruise from All Ears and watch this fun video about the ride below.
We held our party outdoors in a shady spot surrounded by lush foliage. The table was dressed in a brown table cloth with a burlap runner to create an outdoors feel. We used our favorite DIY Mickey placemats, though jute placemats would also look fabulous.
We used a rustic wooden serving tray and spiky plant in a brown crockery bowl along with rustic lantern and a map of Jungle Cruise as our centerpiece. You can download a free Jungle Cruise map from Disney Parks Blog here. It was a fun detail!
Our place settings were simple and designed to blend into the elements. We placed green plates atop our Mickey placemats and used green napkins with a leaf design wrapped in wooden napkin rings. The flatware we chose was wooden with a tropical design. Pint jar mugs were filled with Skipper Sippers!
I loved the favors we chose for this party! Each child received a compass, pair of binoculars and straw pith helmet. We displayed them on the table and the kids had fun playing with them. The favors we used are no longer available so I’ve linked similar items above.
This menu was so much fun to create! We were inspired by the ride but also enjoyed adding a Mickey twist! Get the full menu and all the recipes below.
Our Skipper Sipper may look a little murky (like the Jungle Cruise water), but it’s crisp, refreshing, and delicious! The drink is actually a lime spritzer colored with a bit of green food coloring. We added a few gummy worms for a fun touch. Get our lime spritzer recipe here.
I’m not a snake fan, but this python sandwich was truly a treat! It was inspired by the giant yellow and brown python from the ride. Get our recipe here.
The hippos in the hippo pool of Jungle Cruise may be scary, but this friendly watermelon hippo bowl is so much fun! Our hippo watermelon bowl is filled with fresh fruit. Don’t let it’s teeth scare you… They’re just marshmallows. Get our tutorial here.
Our skipper for this Jungle Cruise was Mickey himself! We created some adorable Skipper Mickey cupcakes using our favorite chocolate cupcake recipe, green buttercream, Oreo ears, and little fondant hats. We created leopard cupcake wrappers using this paper and free template. Get our tutorial and recipe here.
Aren’t these little animal toppers the cutest! These bite-sized mini chocolate cupcakes were also topped with green buttercream and wrapped with a leopard cupcake wrapper. They were adorned with these safari animal icing decorations.
In the ride, the boat passes an African veldt area with gnu, giraffes, zebras, and gazelles. We love zebras and had fun creating these zebra strawberries. Get the tutorial we used from Arts Crackers.
Aren’t these zebra striped Mickey cookie pops adorable? We created these no-bake Mickey treats using Oreo cookies and chocolate and vanilla flavored candy coating. Aside from a cake pop stick, some waxed paper, and some toothpicks you don’t need any other equipment. Get a tutorial from Love This Pic here.
