Entertain with Magic
Frozen is an inspiring film that celebrates family and individuality while demonstrating that love can change the world. Our family had a fantastic time creating an elegant Frozen Disney dinner and family movie night. Read on to get our favorite recipes and fun activities the whole family will enjoy!
Our tablescape was inspired by Elsa’s Ice Palace. The table was dressed in white tablecloth with a silver overlay in an abstract pattern to create a cracked ice effect.
We used simple white china, crystal goblets, and vintage silver for our place settings. The polished cotton napkins were an icey blue color and were embellished with a handmade crocheted snowflake. We floated a single white rose at each place setting.
The centerpiece was a simple arrangement of white hydrangeas flanked with a pair of real ice luminaries that housed votive candles. They were gorgeous and were easily my favorite element of the table. Get our tutorial to make your own ice luminaries here.
Our Frozen dinner menu combines traditional Norwegian favorites with dishes inspired by the movie. The meal was absolutely delightful! Link to our recipes below.
Hot chocolate is a must for any Frozen dinner! We used our favorite hot cocoa mix from the Madison Chocolate company and garnished our warm concoctions with snowflake shaped marshmallows and cinnamon. It’s fun and easy to make snowflake marshmallows using jumbo marshmallows and a small snowflake cookie cutter.
Cheese fondue is the perfect entertaining food! It’s easy and quick to make, fun to eat, and extremely versatile. We made a Norwegian inspired fondue for our Frozen Disney dinner using Jarlsburg and Gruyere cheeses with bread, apples, and roasted vegetable dippers. Fondue makes a lovely appetizer but can also serve as an entire meal. Get our cheese fondue recipe here.
Meatballs are a traditional Norwegian dish and are typically made with beef, veal, and pork. Our family eats a primarily vegetarian diet and used our favorite vegetarian mushroom meatball recipe to create this dish. The mushroom meatballs are delicious and flavorful with a wonderful texture. The rich gravy made with sour cream is a perfect compliment and pairs nicely with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. Get our recipe here.
We had such fun choosing desserts for our Frozen dinner. Troll horns are a Norwegian pastry created in the shape of a horn. They are traditionally filled with cloudberry jam and whipped cream. The mini chocolate-raspberry souffles give a nod to Anna’s chocolate tooth. They are intense, rich, and decadent! A Frozen dinner wouldn’t be complete without an Elsa inspired dessert. We created vanilla cream filled cupcakes topped with Arendelle aqua buttercream, sanding sugar, and fondant snowflakes. Get the recipes below!
We loved making these troll horns using The Unofficial Parks Cookbook by Ashley Croft. They are created using puff pastry and are filled with a delicious rich raspberry cream. The outside is encrusted in sugar to create a glittery effect and perfect crunch. We highly recommend this cookbook!
These mini chocolate-raspberry souffles are absolutely divine. They are dark and intense in flavor with a creamy texture. The raspberries are baked in to provide a perfect accompaniment to the chocolate. They are topped with fresh whipped cream and a juicy raspberry and dusted with powdered sugar {or maybe it’s snow}. Get our recipe here.
These Queen Elsa cupcakes are so delicious! The light vanilla cupcakes are filled with a delicious cream filling, frosted in sweet buttercream, and sprinkled with sugar to give them a beautiful shimmer. Fondant was used to craft pretty snowflakes which adorn the tops. Get our tutorial here.
