Come one! Come all! Welcome to the Circus! We are celebrating our favorite elephant, Dumbo, with this fun Dumbo movie night the whole family is sure to enjoy. Get a simple menu and recipes to create your own Dumbo Movie Night at home!
Dumbo was based off of “Dumbo the Flying Elephant” by Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl. Dumbo was the fourth full-length movie animated by Walt Disney and was released on October 23, 1941. Walt Disney shared that Dumbo held a very special place in his heart.
In the film, Dumbo, a baby elephant who is ridiculed for his abnormally large ears, comes to learn that his ears grant him the ability to fly. This movie is full of wonderful themes, morals, and lessons. It’s one of our family’s favorites.
This fun circus themed movie night buffet honoring our favorite elephant has something for everyone! To create a circus look, layer yellow and blue tablecloths and add an adorable Dumbo banner to the front of the table.
Our buffet was filled with treats – popcorn, an assortment of circus inspired candies, “Circus Soda,” “Big Top” cupcakes, and Dumbo candy apples. We added our favorite Dumbo plushes and an inspirational quote on our favorite chalk board just for fun.
This movie night is so fun and easy to put together! Our menu suggestions are simple and fun to serve! Get all the recipes, tutorials, and printables below.
An old fashioned bottle of soda is the perfect drink for a Dumbo themed movie night. We chose cherry soda but any flavor would be delicious! Give your soda bottles a special twist by wrapping them with “Circus Soda” bottle wrappers.
It’s so fun to serve hot dogs with unique toppings! For a Dumbo movie night, create star shaped mac ‘n cheese to top your dogs. We served our hot dogs with cheesy mac, dill pickles, and yummy seasoned curly fries. It was a perfect {and very easy} circus themed dinner!
Popcorn is a favorite movie snack and our family loves a popcorn buffet for movie nights. For this party, offer colorful M&M’s as well as circus peanuts as add-ins for popcorn.
Giant rainbow lollipops are a special movie treat and Dumbo is the perfect occasion to serve them. We decorated our lollipops with Dumbo cupcake toppers.
Dumbo is so adorable and has a special place in all our hearts! These candy apples inspired by him are super fun to create. Use jumbo marshmallows for Dumbo’s ears and yellow fondant for his little hat.
We were inspired by the Big Top for these fun treats! We love the Wilton Color Swirl Kit to create a fun multi-color effect with frosting. These fun pinata cupcakes from Sally’s Baking Addiction are swirled with red and white buttercream and sprinkled with gold candy stars. And, they are filled with sprinkles which create a delightful surprise with every bite! The cupcakes are decorated with Dumbo cupcake toppers.
