Wookiee Cookies: Chewie-Approved Treats for Every Star Wars Fan

Inspired by everyone’s favorite furry co-pilot, Chewbacca, these delightful treats are sure to satisfy your sweet cravings while paying homage to one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars saga.

Whether you’re hosting a Star Wars-themed party or simply treating yourself to a scrumptious snack, these Wookiee Cookies are guaranteed to be a hit with Jedi and Sith alike. These were served on our “Return of the Jedi” Star Wars movie night.

Makes 12 sandwich cookies

Ingredients:

Cookies:

2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/3 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

Filling:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
4 cups confectioner’s sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Pinch of salt

Decorations:

2 Hershey Milk Chocolate Bars
White Icing Gel Pen

Instructions:

1. Make Cookie Batter – In the bowl of a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine the flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Place batter in the refrigerator and chill for 30-60 minutes.

2. Bake Cookies – Form 2 tablespoon balls and place 3 inches apart onto baking sheets prepared with parchment paper. Gently press flat with the bottom of a cup. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Do not overbake. Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before transferring to a wire cooking rack.

3. Make vanilla cream filling – In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the softened butter until fluffy. Add 3 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar, cream or milk, and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Beat on high speed until thoroughly combined. Add a pinch of salt if desired. If filling is too thin, add more confectioner’s sugar. If it is too thick add a teaspoon of milk or cream.

4. Assemble Cookies – Prepare a pastry bag with a star tip. Fill with vanilla cream mixture. Lay cookies flat side up and pipe filling onto the bottom cookie. Top with a second cookie to create a sandwich.

5. Decorate Cookies – Carefully cut apart a Hershey Bar into two long rectangles. Add small white dots to the flat side using a white frosting pen. Add frosting to the rough side and adhere to the top of each cookie sandwich.
