These classic tea sandwiches are delicious and so adaptable. Learn to make classic tea sandwiches:
- Egg salad on white
- Turkey, raspberry preserves, and cream cheese on wheat
- Cucumber & herbed cream cheese on pumpernickel
- Peanut butter-honey on sunflower
- Turkey, apple, goat cheese on white.
These tea sandwiches were featured on our 101 Dalmatians Disney dinner ,our Mary Poppins Tea. our Winnie the Pooh Picnic and our Alice in Wonderland Garden Party.
Classic Egg Salad Tea Sandwich
Ingredients
- 6 hard boiled eggs, peeled and coarsely chopped
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup green olives, sliced
- 12 white bread slices, crusts removed
Instructions
Combine all ingredients. Spread on half of the bread slices and cover with second slice of bread. Slice into triangles or use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Turkey, Raspberry, and Cream Cheese Tea Sandwich
Ingredients
- 4 oz. thinly sliced deli turkey
- 6 tablespoons raspberry preserves
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 12 wheat bread slices, crusts removed
Instructions
Spread bread slices with cream cheese. Top half of slices with turkey. Top other half of slices with raspberry preserves. Assemble sandwiches and slice into triangles or use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Cucumber and Dilled Cream Cheese Tea Sandwich
Ingredients
- 6 oz. cream cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh dill, finely chopped
- Salt & pepper to taste
- English cucumber, thinly sliced
- 12 pumpernickel bread slices, crusts removed
Instructions
Place cream cheese, dill, salt & pepper in a bowl and stir with a rubber spatula until combined. Spread bread slices with cream cheese mixture. Top half of slices with thinly sliced cucumber. Assemble sandwiches and cut into triangles or cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
Peanut Butter Honey Tea Sandwich
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons crunch peanut butter
- 6 teaspoons honey
- Mini Chocolate Chips (if desired)
- 12 sunflower bread slices, crusts removed
Instructions
Spread 6 bread slices with crunchy peanut butter. Top with honey and mini chocolate chips (if desired). Assemble sandwiches and cut into triangles or cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
Turkey, Apple, Goat Cheese Tea Sandwich
Ingredients
- 4 oz. thinly sliced deli turkey
- apple, thinly sliced
- 4 oz. goat cheese, softened to room temperature
- 12 white bread slices, crusts removed
Instructions
Spread bread slices with goat cheese. Top half of slices with turkey. Top other half of slices with apples Assemble sandwiches and slice into small squares or use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Creative Tea Sandwiches
Consider using cookie cutters to fit the theme of your tea party.
- We used Wilton dog cookie cutters for our 101 Dalmatians themed party.
- For Mary Poppins we served traditional round and triangle shapes, but an umbrella, daisy, or balloon shape would be perfect.
- For a Winnie the Pooh picnic, try a shirt shape, a sunflower, a balloon, or a teddy bear.
- For an Alice in Wonderland party, create a chess board or checker board by cutting two different colored sandwiches into small squares. Top each square with an olive or cherry tomato.
