Entertain with Magic
Our daughter created this beautiful box inspired by the small red jeweled heart box from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The box belonged to the Evil Queen who gave it to the huntsman to put Snow White’s heart in it after he kills her. Of course, he can’t go through with the task and puts a pig’s heart in it instead.
Create your own version of the iconic Evil Queen’s heart box from Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs using our easy and fun step-by-step tutorial. We’ve include links for all the products we used. This recipe was featured on our Snow White dinner menu.
Instructions
1. Choose a small wooden hinged box with a latch. We purchased this box from Michaels.
2. Lightly draw rectangular panels and scrollwork on the box with pencil.
3. Next, paint your design using bright red, navy blue, and hunter green. Let the box dry completely between coats.
4. Once the box is dry, edge the borders between colors with a gold paint pen.
5. You may choose to finish the box by adding a beautiful filigree heart pendant or charm. We gave ours a little spritz with gold spray paint and fixed it to the box latch with a bit of fine wire.
6. Fill the box with treasures of your choice. We opted to use blue acrylic gemstones and red candy hearts that we made using this Wilton mold and Wilton red candy melts.
