Mickey’s Gingerbread party is filled with sugar and spice and all things nice!
Our family hosts an annual gingerbread decorating party each Christmas and this year’s party was inspired by cozy candy cottages and mounds of glistening snow. You can check out last year’s gingham inspired gingerbread decorating party here.

We enjoy giving each child their own miniature gingerbread house to decorate.
Each child got their own house which we purchased from Target and placed on a plastic plate. The plates kept the table nice and neat so any candy that falls off the house is kept in place.
We enjoy looking at beautiful gingerbread houses for inspiration.
We had fun collecting beautiful candies to decorate our gingerbread houses.
Mini Candy Canes
Starlight Mints
Mini Marshmallows
Gumdrops
Dots
Jelly Beans
Candy Balls
Mike & Ikes
Necco Wafers (these make fabulous shingles)
We like to make our own royal icing and place it in piping bags with various types of tips. We recommend round tips in small and medium sizes and a small sized star tip. Our recipe is fluffy yet firm and is perfect for holding lots of candies. Our secret is to whip the icing until it is a fluffy consistency just right for gingerbread house trim. Get our royal icing recipe here.
I love to witness the creative process for each child and enjoy that each gingerbread house is a reflection of them. They take such pride in creating their own unique masterpieces.
For the table we used a pink tablecloth with a pink and white gingham runner. Each house sat atop a mint green plastic plate. We placed little bowls of candies down the table and used pink and white bottle brush trees and a full-size gingerbread house as the centerpiece. Get our tutorial for the gingerbread house here.
One of the best aspects of a gingerbread decorating party is eating all the candy! This party was no exception.
We served gingerbread cupcakes from Sally’s Baking Addiction. The cupcakes were topped with our favorite cream cheese frosting and custom Mickey gingerbread man toppers.
We also made Mickey gingerbread cookies in two shapes and decorated them with royal icing and candies. Get our tutorial for creating these cookies here.
Guests drank strawberry milk served in milk bottles with custom Mickey gingerbread man wrappers and matching straw toppers.
