About Orange Bird
Orange Bird is an adorable little canary that resembles an orange. He serves as the mascot of Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom where you can grab a delicious Citrus Swirl.
Orange Bird was created by Disney as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission in exchange for them sponsoring the Enchanted Tiki Room attraction and Sunshine Tree Terrace.
Orange Bird appeared in a few educational shorts in the 1980s such as Foods and Fun: A Nutrition Adventure and The Orange Bird and the Nutrition Bandwagon. Our family’s favorites are the “Orange Bird Song” and The Orange Bird book.
the Tablescape & Decor
This pool party was packed with vibrant citrus hues! We dressed our table in a white tablecloth and DIY orange print table topper. I absolutely love this retro calico print fabric. It has a pale pink background with oranges in different citrus shades and a minty green. We purchased 1 1/4 yards of this print at Hobby Lobby and added a narrow hem. Get the fabric here.
We used 10″ square palm plates as chargers and topped them with Little Clementine paper plates. We paired the dinnerware with bamboo handled flatware and an orange gingham napkin tied with a rattan napkin ring. We sewed these napkins using fabric that is no longer available, but you can get a similar look with these napkins.
For our centerpiece we decorated a tiered tray with a custom Sunshine Tree Terrace sign along with a white wooden bead garland, artificial orange picks, small boxwood balls, and some Orange Bird Jello treats.
We created a floral arrangement using fresh orange slices, tropical leaves, and orange Gerbera daisies in a square vase. We finished the arrangement with a custom Orange Bird pick and placed a bamboo plate of cuties and a vintage orange ball pitcher on the table.
